Who wants to be a gut lover? Even better, how about joining the Gut Lover Fan Club?? this will be a fun-filled health challenge in which I’ll be providing ideas that are simple, fun, easy to follow, and satisfying.
You may be asking, “what is a gut lover”? The non-official definition is “anyone that supports their gut microbiome by practicing ‘good old-fashioned self-care’”. This may include the following:
Eating a variety of plant-based foods (PBFs)
Having fermented foods in the diet
Minimizing sugar and highly processed foods
Proper hydration throughout the day
Prioritizing sleep
Utilizing techniques to manage stress
Moving the body
Minimizing or avoiding things that negatively impact the gut
Certain medications
anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs)
Antibiotics- extra gut love should be provided following course of antibiotics
Excessive alcohol, tobacco use
Why is it important to be a gut lover? In a nut shell, the health of your microbiome, i.e. the trillions of bugs living in your gut, is a source of life and may be the root cause to health.
If you love your gut and feed it what it needs, avoid things that harm your gut, you can thrive.
If you don’t love on your gut, i.e. neglect it in various ways, you will experience disease.
Gut health can impact so many areas of your being: your brain, hormones, metabolic health, inflammation, weight, immune function, and digestion.
The Gut Lover Fan club challenge will begin week of January 12, 2026. If you want to join, email amy@girlmetveggies.com.
